I’ve always been a feminist. I grew up in a strict Catholic family, and despite its greatest efforts, the churches teachings on gender roles never inspired anything in me besides willful revolt. Possibly because gender roles revolt me. And because I naturally have the strength to demand to be treated and to treat others with equality, it saddens me that of eight children, only my brother and I are feminists. This is for all the would-be-feminists who out of fear, oppression, vindictive power hunger, hatefulness, spite, or any number of different reasons are not feminists. Open your eyes: feminism is just love. Love’s good.
