Rev. Anne Dunlap, age 40, Denver, CO
I’m a white queer clergywoman.  As a white feminist it is important that I stand in solidarity with communities of color, so here you have a photo of me in Phoenix, AZ, May 29, 2010, joining in the massive march to protest the racist laws (SB1070 and others) being passed in that state which criminalize people of color.
White feminist women must do the work of acknowledging our racism and disrupting our own privilege for being white, understanding the intersections of oppressions means our liberation as women must also be the liberation of all oppressed groups.  Feminism means resisting patriarchy and all the “interlocking systems of domination” (bell hooks) that uphold it:  racism, sexism, classism, heterosexism, homophobia, militarism, imperialism, etc.  And feminism reminds us that resistance is best done in community, so grab hold tight to your people and get busy.  As Alice Walker says, “Resistance is the secret to joy.”
