Want to get involved in Feminist Coming Out Day this March 8th? Whether you have a ton of time and money or neither of both, there are lots of ways you can join the movement!
1. SPREAD THE WORD ($0)
You can participate online by spreading the word about your feminist pride! First, add us on Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube. Then download this template (right-click the image and to save to your computer) and post it to your Facebook, blog, office door, or wherever else you like. Feel free to add a quote, your name, or school and club-specific information! Check out Abby’s and Lena’s from last year:

Once you’ve made your customized poster, upload it to our website, and we’ll post it so that you can …
2. JOIN THE ONLINE FEMINIST PORTRAIT PROJECT ($0)
Got five minutes? Submit your story, photo, and/or video for inclusion in our online Feminist Portrait Project. We’ll post it to this blog and upload it to our YouTube channel! (Try to incorporate the words “This Is What A Feminist Looks Like” in your picture. You can hold a sign, wear our shirt, or impose your face on the awesome template above.)
3. WEAR YOUR FEMINIST PRIDE ON YOUR SLEEVE ($2-$20)

Make a campaign contribution of $2 or more on our official donation page and get some awesome gear declaring your support for gender equality. Donors at the $20 level will receive a V-neck collar fitted, sheer jersey cotton tee that was made in America by Royal Apparel and printed in Wisconsin with a custom design in a 2-color water-based ink.
Not only will you be showing your peers what a feminist looks like, but you’ll also be helping to fund feminist media — a very tangible and fashionable way to advance the cause! All proceeds from merchandise sales will benefit our charitable partner for 2011, Bitch Magazine.
4. PLAN AN EVENT ($20+)
Events at our partner campus are happening throughout March and can be as low-key as a TV marathon or as big a production as a rally. Here are just a couple ideas to get your campus buzzing with girl power:
- An interactive “Feminist Portrait Project” (piloted at Harvard) featuring photos of and quotes from students, campus leaders, teachers/professors, and administrators who support gender equality
- A student art exhibition of “Post Secrets”, postcard-style confessions, about the impact of gender norms on everyday life. (One example is the “Wall of Truth” set up by students at the University of Texas at Austin.)
- A TV marathon or film screening of the most gender-defying, ass-kicking protagonists in pop culture (Try one of the following titles: “I Was A Teenage Feminist”, “But I’m A Cheerleader”, “If These Walls Could Talk”, “Itty Bitty Titty Committee”, “Buffy The Vampire Slayer”, “Veronica Mars”)
- An intergenerational panel discussion pairing students with teachers in a conversation about how feminism has evolved

We are featuring a listing of all nationwide events on our website and creating campus pages for each participating school. Email us at feministcomingoutday@gmail.com to be added to our site, to receive our Campus Action Plan, or to arrange for group discounts on merchandise orders.
